Debra Lidster has been the Library Media Specialist at Ironwood Elementary School since 2004.  She has many years of experience working in school  libraries (both public and private) public libraries, an academic library and a private library.  She has earned an AAS in Library Technology from Mesa Community College.

Library Hours

During the school year, our hours are from 8:15 AM until 3:15 PM, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:15 AM until 1:45 PM on Early Release days.  The library is closed during school holidays.

Our Library's Purpose

The purpose of a school library is to support our student's education as lifelong learners and readers by putting resources in the hands of students, encouraging students to read, teaching students the skills necessary to evaluate information, and encouraging student responsibility.

Guidelines and Expectations

Circulation Guidelines

Kindergarten and First Grade students check out one book at a time.  Checkout period is for one six-day cycle.

Second through Sixth Grade students are allowed two books at a time.
Checkout period is for  one six-day cycle.  Books may be renewed, unless the book is on hold for another student.

Fines are charged only on lost or damaged books.

Staff members have unlimited circulation access to the entire collection.

Parents may stop in during regular library hours to get a parent library card which allows them to check out up to 5 books at a time for a fourteen day period.  Renewal of this card is annually.

Behavior and Environment in the Library

The Ironwood Elementary School Library is a Community of Caring environment.  Students are expected to exhibit the five core values of a Community Of Caring (Caring, respect, responsibility, trust and family) while in the Library.
